Range Rover - Repair and Service Redwood City - 2025 Defender adds more luxury to capable off-roader - Bosch European Redwood City - (650) 368-3000

2025 Land Rover Defender

The Defender enters the 2025 model year with few changes, though there are items that enhance the vehicle's luxury, and others that should make things easier at ordering time.

The new model year brings the availability of packages that group many popular individual options. Among the new packs are some that enhance the driving qualities, others that improve capability in cold weather or when towing, and a few that increase comfort.

Examples include an Off-Road Pack that includes an electronic active differential, roof racks, all-terrain tires, and a wade sensing feature. This can then be joined by an Advanced Off-Road Pack that adds air suspension, off-road driving modes, and more.

For the interior, there are packs like the Comfort and Convenience Pack which adds ambient lighting, a premium Meridian audio system, and a front console refrigerator. A Premium Upgrade Interior Pack adds extra leather trim and 14-way heated and cooled front seats with memory function.

Buyers of the stretched Defender 130 will be able to opt for captain's chairs for the first time, which will make accessing the third row easier. The captain's chairs feature heating and cooling functions, as well as individual armrests.

The Defender can also be ordered with a matte-finish protective film.

Powertrains carry over unchanged. Depending on the grade, buyers can choose from a 2.0-liter turbo-4 rated at 296 hp, a 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-6 mild-hybrid rated at 395 hp, or a 5.0-liter supercharged V-8 rated at either 493 or 518 hp. For buyers seeking ultimate performance, JLR will reveal the new Defender Octa grade on July 3. This will be a hardcore offering powered by a 4.4-liter twin-turbocharged V-8 likely spitting out over 600 hp.

The 2025 Defender is priced from $58,375 for the two-door Defender 90, from $62,275 for the four-door Defender 110, and from $71,175 for the stretched Defender 130. All figures include a $1,475 destination charge.

Porsche - Repair and Service Redwood City - 2025 Porsche 911 GT3 RS MR is honed at the 'Ring - Redwood City - (650) 368-3000

Porsche's 992-generation 911 GT3 RS is already one of the most potent factory-built track cars money can buy, but Manthey-Racing is out to improve the formula with a range of performance upgrades.

Prototypes for the Manthey-enhanced 911 GT3 RS have been spotted testing at the Nürburgring, where Manthey's headquarters is located, and the first upgrades should be available later this year.

The latest photos and video from Car Spy Media show Manthey testing a 911 GT3 RS with a much larger rear spoiler with an active function, as well as a central stabilizer fin that connects the wing to a panel sitting where the rear windshield normally sits. Small vortex generators are mounted to the rear of the roof, and the rear diffuser has a new design. Manthey has also fitted its aero discs to the rear wheels of the latest prototype.

Most of the features are aimed at increasing downforce, particularly at the rear to help keep the car glued to the track surface when cornering. The stock 911 GT3 RS can already create as much as 1,895 pounds of downforce at 177 mph, twice as much as the previous 991-generation 911 GT3 RS, so Manthey has its work cut out for it.

For the previous 911 GT3 RS, Manthey upgrades also included a custom engine cover, adjustable coil-overs, custom brake pads, and custom brake lines, and many of these, and possibly more, should be part of the upgrades for the latest car.

Manthey upgrades are typically limited to the areas of aerodynamics, brakes, and suspension. This means the 911 GT3 RS's 4.0-liter flat-6 should still pump out a stock 518 hp, with drive sent to the rear wheels via a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. Despite peak power likely remaining unchanged, Manthey's work on the car should still reduce the stock 'Ring time of 6:49.328 by several seconds.

Manthey is Porsche's most successful customer racing team, having won multiple races and championships. This success has earned Manthey the right to serve as Porsche's factory team on occasion, including in the World Endurance Championship, and it has also led to a range of Manthey upgrades being offered via Porsche showrooms, including here in the U.S.

Porsche has just updated the 992-generation 911 for the 2025 model year, including adding a hybrid powertrain to the GTS grade. However, the Turbo, Turbo S, and GT3 RS grades carry over unchanged for 2025. Updates are planned for them, though.
