Mercedes-Benz AMG redesigned its GT sports car for the 2024 model year, and for 2025 it has some new models in the range.

One of these is the entry-level AMG GT 43, which was first shown in March. It reaches U.S. showrooms this fall, and Mercedes on Wednesday announced a starting price of $107,050, including a $1,150 destination charge.

That represents a steep discount on the $136,050 starting price of the 2024 GT 55. It's also cheaper than the starting price of the related 2024 SL 43, which is priced from $111,050.

Like the SL 43, the GT 43 is powered by a 2.0-liter turbo-4. In the GT 43, the engine is mated to a 9-speed automatic and is rated at 416 hp. Other members of the GT family all feature twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V-8 engines.

Despite the loss of four cylinders, the GT 43 is no slouch. It will sprint from 0-60 mph in 4.5 seconds and top out at a governed 174 mph. Helping with the performance is an electrified turbocharger design similar to what's used in Formula 1.

An electric motor powered by a 48-volt mild-hybrid system and measuring just 1.6 inches wide is integrated directly with the turbocharger, sitting between the turbine wheel on the exhaust side and the compressor wheel on the intake side. It spools up the compressor at low revs, before the exhaust gases take over, reducing turbo lag and as a result making the engine more responsive.

The GT 43 also skips the all-wheel-drive system of other GT variants, meaning drive goes to the rear wheels only. The smaller engine and missing all-wheel-drive system should save considerable weight compared to the other GT variants, though no curb weight has been revealed.

The GT 43 also misses out on the AMG Ride Control suspension with adjustable damping as standard, though it's on the options list. The Race mode of the AMG DYNAMIC SELECT drive mode selector is also missing here.

The GT 43 is visually distinguished from other GT variants by unique front and rear fascias, as well as round tailpipes instead of the V-8 models' square-shaped tips. There are also different wheel patterns for the GT 43, with the standard set measuring 19 inches in diameter.

Other standard features include leather trim, power adjustable seats with heating and memory function, a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, a 11.9-inch touchscreen for the infotainment, a Burmester audio system, a surround-view camera system, a wireless phone charger, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

The 2025 model year also sees the GT family expanded with a GT 63 Pro model and a GT 63 S E Performance model. The latter is a plug-in hybrid with a total 805 hp on tap. Pricing for these additional models will be announced at a later date. The new models join the GT 55 and GT 63 which are already on sale.

Audi - Repair and Service Redwood City -2025 Audi E-Tron GT gets performance boost, $126,795 price tag - Bosch European Redwood City - (650) 368-3000

2025 Audi RS E-Tron GT

With the Audi R8 bowing out of production in April, the flagship role at Audi now lies with the E-Tron GT. Accordingly, Audi has given the electric super sedan a major performance boost for its mid-cycle update.

Rather than mess with the already handsome lines of the E-Tron GT, Audi focused on improving the vehicle's range, charging, handling, and available power—similar to what Porsche did with its updates to the E-Tron GT's Taycan sibling.

The updated E-Tron GT was first shown in June, and it's now available to order in the U.S. Audi on Thursday confirmed a starting price of $126,795, which is up sharply from the 2024 model's $107,995 starting price, but there's a good reason for this.

The 2024 E-Tron GT's 523-hp base model has been dropped and instead the entry point is a new 670-hp S E-Tron GT. This is followed by the existing RS E-Tron GT model, which in updated form delivers 845 hp, up from 637 hp, and then a new RS E-Tron GT Performance flagship with 912 hp, making it the most powerful production Audi yet. In the U.S., only the S E-Tron GT and RS E-Tron GT Performance are available. The S E-Tron GT is priced from the aforementioned $126,795, while the RS E-Tron GT Performance is priced from $168,295. Both figures include a $1,295 destination charge.

All models feature dual-motor all-wheel-drive powertrains. They also include a boost function that delivers an extra 94 hp for 10-second stints. The peak performance is delivered in the RS E-Tron GT Performance, and includes 0-62 mph acceleration in 2.5 seconds and a top speed capped at 155 mph.

The battery is the same 105-kwh unit fitted to the updated Taycan. It sits lower and also weighs slightly less than the 93-kwh unit it replaces, despite the bigger capacity. The weight of the battery alone is approximately 1,378 pounds. Charging speeds are also faster thanks to the maximum charging rate rising to 320 kw, up from the current 270 kw. The energy available via brake regeneration has also increased from 290 to 400 kw.

Audi estimates a range of 300 miles for the S E-Tron GT on the EPA test cycle, using 20-inch wheels. A range estimate for the RS E-Tron GT Performance hasn't been published. The outgoing E-Tron GT's EPA range estimate tops out at 249 miles.

Some key changes have also been made to the mechanical bits. These include a more powerful brake system with standard 10-piston front calipers across the range. Steel rotors are used for the S E-Tron GT and a tungsten carbide-coated rotor design is used for the RS duo (available on the S). Carbon-ceramic rotors are also available across the range.

Audi said it also strengthened the driveshafts and recalibrated the electronics responsible for the all-wheel-drive system's torque distribution. The suspension has also been updated. This includes a new two-chamber, two-valve air suspension to replace the three-chamber, one-valve version. Audi says it improves driving dynamics without compromising comfort. Buyers can also opt for an active suspension system. It's a version of the air suspension that comes with configurable modes plus a pre-programmed mode specifically designed for track driving. Rear-wheel steering is also available to help with the handling.

On the exterior of the updated E-Tron GT, the most notable change is to the front fascia. There are distinct designs for the S and RS duo, with the RS cars getting a front fascia that makes them look even wider and more planted. Audi also offers new colors to choose from and, depending on the grade, some carbon accents, including for the roof. A panoramic glass roof is also available.

Inside, the E-Tron GT gets new designs for the seats, steering wheel, and door sills, and the digital gauge cluster provides new information on the battery, such as temperature, the maximum possible charging rate in real time, a charging completion forecast, and the preconditioning status.

Production of the E-Tron GT is handled at the same specialist plant in Neckarsulm, Germany, where Audi built the R8. U.S. deliveries are scheduled to start in the first quarter of 2025.

Porsche - Repair and Service Redwood City - Porsche 911 GT3 running out of time without turbos or hybrid - (650) 368-3000

2025 Porsche 911 GT3

The updated 2025 Porsche 911 GT3 unveiled earlier this month may be the last time Porsche's track star is offered without turbocharging or hybrid technology.

In an interview with Autocar published on Tuesday, Andreas Preuninger, Porsche's head of development for GT-badged cars, said stricter Euro 7 emissions regulations planned by the European Union for introduction in 2026 may make it impossible to continue with a naturally aspirated engine that still delivers the performance expected of a GT3.

“I don’t think we can handle Euro 7 without electrification or without turbos,” he said. “We can sell [the updated GT3] for another two years, but it depends on the markets.”

The updated GT3 sticks with a 4.0-liter flat-6 rated at 502 hp. While those numbers are unchanged from the previous model, Preuninger said getting the engine to meet current Euro 6 regulations was a challenge. For example, it delivers a third less nitrous oxides and 40% less particulate emissions, he said.

When asked whether the new 473-hp hybrid powertrain in the updated 2025 911 Carrera GTS range could be used in the GT3, Preuninger downplayed the chances. He told Autocar that the hybrid powertrain would mean using the dual-clutch transmission found in the Carrera range instead of the lighter sport version used in the GT3.

This means Porsche may develop a new hybrid system for the next GT3 or go with a turbocharged engine.

Regardless of the solution, Preuninger told Autocar it isn't something GT3 buyers actually want—because it adds weight to the wrong end of the car, "at the back.”
