Audi's plant in Brussels, Belgium, will cease production next year after the automaker's attempts to find a buyer failed.

The plant, which employs slightly more than 3,000 workers, was acquired by Audi from Volkswagen in 2007 and currently builds the Q8 E-Tron and the related Q8 Sportback E-Tron.

Production of the electric SUVs will end by Feb. 28, according to a December 12 report by Reuters citing an Audi spokesperson.

An Audi USA spokesperson told Motor Authority all Q8 E-Trons in U.S. inventory are 2024 models. It's unclear if the 2025 model will arrive in the U.S. and depends on production allocations.

The Q8 E-Tron was originally launched for the 2019 model year in the U.S. under the name E-Tron. It was renamed the Q8 E-Tron following a mid-cycle refresh for the 2024 model year.

The unrelated gas-powered Q8 is produced at a separate plant and is expected to remain on sale after the Q8 E-Tron is discontinued.

In recent months, Audi explored the possibility of selling the Brussels plant, with speculation that Chinese EV manufacturer Nio might be a potential buyer. However, Nio has denied those rumors.

The main union representing workers at Audi's parent company, Volkswagen Group, warned in October that the automaker might be considering closing up to three plants in Germany, though no final decisions have been made. Workers are currently on strike as negotiations between management and the union continue this week.

BMW's highly successful M4 GT3 customer race car has been updated for the 2025 motorsports season, with the new Evo version already achieving its first victory this past weekend in the 24 Hours of Dubai.

The number 777 M4 GT3 Evo, fielded by AlManar Racing by Team WRT, secured the overall win in the 24-hour race, thanks to the efforts of BMW factory drivers Max Hesse and Dan Harper, along with Al Faisal Al Zubair, Darren Leung, and Ben Tuck.

The no. 991 M4 GT3 Evo, entered by Paradine Competition, also claimed the GT3 AM class win, finishing fifth overall.

The current M4 GT3 made its debut in the 2022 motorsports season and has since amassed more than 70 victories. Over this time, BMW has gathered extensive feedback from customer teams to further enhance the car. The updates for the Evo version focus not on raw performance but on improving drivability, efficiency, and reliability, the automaker said.

Notable updates include smaller side mirrors, larger air outlets on the front wheel arches, a more aerodynamically efficient rear wing, new anti-roll bars, larger rear brakes, and a rear differential that BMW reports is easier to adjust.

Under the hood remains the proven twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-6 engine from the outgoing model. This engine, shared with the latest M3 and M4, plus the X3 M, and X4 M performance crossovers, delivers up to 590 hp in the M4 GT3 Evo. Power is sent to the wheels via an X-Trac 6-speed sequential transmission.

Pricing for the M4 GT3 Evo starts at €578,000 (approximately $593,000).
