Range Rover - Repair and Consignment Sales Redwood City - 2017 Land Rover Range Rover spy shots - Bosch European Redwood City - (650) 368-3000

For years, Land Rover’s Range Rover was unparalleled in the luxury SUV segment. But with demand for SUVs soaring over the past decade it was only a matter of time until rivals started to challenge it. The current Range Rover is still hard to beat when it comes to an SUV that offers sublime luxury and serious off-roading potential but Land Rover isn’t resting on its laurels.

The Range Rover and its Range Rover Sport cousin are approaching the midway point in their respective life cycles and to keep them fresh Land Rover will introduce some subtle updates. We’ve already spied a prototype for the updated version of the Range Rover Sport and today it’s the Range Rover which is the focus of our spy shots.

The prototype is sporting a new grille and a new bumper at the front. The design of the intakes on this front bumper is the only significant change. The wheel pattern is also one we haven’t seen on the Range Rover before.

It’s not clear what mechanical updates are planned though we could finally see a gasoline-electric hybrid version on offer here in the United States. A diesel-electric hybrid version is offered overseas. Note, a pure diesel option was introduced here for the 2016 model year.

The current Range Rover was introduced as a 2013 model. That means we should see this update introduced for the 2017 model year although it could be delayed until 2018 to coincide with the update for the Range Rover Sport. Look for a debut to take place late this year or early next.

Mercedes - Repair and Consignment Sales Redwood City - Mercedes-AMG confirms GLC63, drift mode for new E63 - Bosch European Redwood City - (650) 368-3000

Mercedes-AMG had an onslaught of new performance cars on show at this week’s 2016 New York Auto Show.
The list included the updated CLA45 and new E43 sedans, the new GLC43 andGLC43 Coupe SUVs, and the stunning C63 Cabriolet.
The official tuner to Mercedes-Benz also confirmed in New York that the GLC and GLC Coupe SUVs would eventually join the “63” club.
Speaking with reporters at the show, Mercedes-AMG boss Tobias Moers said both a GLC63 and GLC63 Coupe were coming. He said they were due early next year. The news isn't a huge surprise, though, as the first prototype for the new GLC63 was recently spotted.

Both will feature Mercedes-AMG’s familiar twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V-8 engine. There will likely be a regular GLC63 with 469 horsepower and an even sportier GLC63 S with 503 hp.

But before they arrive, Mercedes-AMG will launch the new E63, which Moers said will debut a new “drift mode” designed to make it easier and safer to engage in a little sideways action when hitting the track.

BMW - Repair and Consignment Sales Redwood City - BMW teases tons of new vehicles including a giant SUV and an ultra-luxury electric car - Bosch European Redwood City - (650) 368-3000

BMW has been going wild around its 100th anniversary celebrations this month, first with its Vision Next 100 concept car — a wild interpretation of what an Ultimate Driving Machine might look like a few decades from now. (And "wild" is an understatement, considering it has several hundred morphing polygons embedded in the dashboard that undulate to communicate things to to the driver.)

But the Vision Next 100 wasn't the only news on BMW's agenda. There are a couple more futuristic concept cars in the works from BMW brands Rolls-Royce and Mini, for one. Then there's a whole host of real, actual stuff you can buy that's going to roll out over the coming months.

In a press release issued today, BMW runs through a host of programs it's working on. It's a little difficult to unpack, honestly — there are a lot of buzzwords BMW has packed into this thing, first of which is iNEXT. BMW uses iNEXT to refer to a "revolutionary new BMW i model that will raise premium individual mobility to previously unknown levels," featuring some form of autonomous driving capability, an electric powertrain, and a "trailblazing interior design." It's unclear whether the iNEXT name will make it to production, but by all appearances, this car is going to end up as BMW's electric flagship — possibly a 7 Series equivalent (or even fancier) but packed with a bunch of next-gen tech and Tesla-like propulsion.

BMW is also confirming the release of a drop-top i8, which we saw teased at CES this year as the i Vision Future Interaction concept (interestingly, this was the second time we've seen an i8 Spyder concept, but the first time in a couple years). This year, BMW expects to have a total of seven plug-in hybrid or pure electric models across its brands. In the future, a hybrid Mini will be coming, but it sounds like that won't be on the road in 2016.

Speaking of the i8, BMW is relaunching its i brand with Project i 2.0, which is shifting its focus from electrification to "an equally ambitious path with respect to automated and fully networked driving." That can mean a lot of things, but BMW calls out a few features and focus areas in particular that it's working on for its i cars, including HD mapping and sensors (especially useful for self-driving tech), cloud connectivity, and artificial intelligence. In the Vision Next 100 concept, BMW showed a weird little gemstone-shaped thing called the "Companion" that it asserted could learn a driver's habits over time to start making decisions for them, so that's probably closely related to the company's interest in AI.

In the meantime, a refreshed i3 with a bigger battery and better range is expected later this year. That's good — the current i3 manages sub-100-mile runs between charges, while cheaper cars like the new-generation Nissan Leaf and the upcoming Chevy Bolt are hitting 150 and up.

BMW i3 charging

Beyond electrification and connectivity, though, there's still BMW's meat and potatoes — and the company has some news for more traditional car fans, too. First up, there's a BMW X7 coming, which will be a giant SUV to do battle with the Escalades of the world. Next — and perhaps most exciting — there's "a further expansion of the M product range" coming, which is BMW's high-performance brand. The M2 is promising to be the most exciting M car in ages, so BMW's riding a wave of M hype right now that it's undoubtedly looking to capitalize on.

We don't have photos or details on any of these things yet, but the year is young: there are plenty of auto shows to come, and it looks like at least some of this news is going to extend into 2017. Buckle down.

Mercedes - Repair and Consignment Sales Redwood City - Mercedes to preview pickup in concept form at 2016 Paris Auto Show - Bosch European Redwood City - (650) 368-3000

Teaser sketch for potential Mercedes-Benz pickup truck

Mercedes-Benz is working on a mid-size pickup truck, though whether the vehicle will make it to the United States is still up in the air.

This teaser sketch was released at the original announcement of the truck in early 2015. According to Auto Express, a concept at the 2016 Paris Auto Show this October will provide a closer indication of what we can expect for the production model due out in late 2017 or early the following year.

The new truck, which we’ve heard might be called a GLT or even an X-Class, will be a serious workhorse with some luxury thrown in, as opposed to a proper luxury offering with a bed out back. That’s because the truck will be based on the rugged, body-on-frame platform found in the latest Nissan NP300 Navara. Nissan alliance partner Renault will get its own version, which the French automaker previewed last year with the Alaskan concept.

All three trucks will be built at Nissan’s plant located in Barcelona, Spain, as well as a Renault plant in Cordoba, Argentina. Distinct styling and interiors will be used to differentiate them.

Mercedes will also go with its own powertrains, according to Auto Express. The likely units will be 4- and 6-cylinder engines, in both gasoline and diesel flavors. A hybrid option is also expected.

Prototypes for Mercedes’ truck should turn up later this year.

Jaguar - Repair and Consignment Sales Redwood City - Barn find Jaguar E-Type with Beatles connection up for auction - Bosch European Redwood City - (650) 368-3000

Jaguar E-Type barn find

A Jaguar E-Type found hiding under a hedge in rural England is headed to auction, but what's most significant about the dusty and shapely coupe might be its first owner.

Sold new to Ivor Arbiter, the owner of Drum City and Sound and London, the E-Type arrived about the time The Beatles were really beginning to take off. Arbiter was a well-known figure in the '60s London music scene, and he's perhaps best remembered for designing the "Drop T" logo for the famous British band.
According to auctioneer COYS, which will offer the E-Type in London next week, Arbiter's firm was paid just £5 for the design that would unquestionably become iconic. Arbiter actually commissioned a local painter, Eddie Stokes, to hand paint the logo during his lunch hour. This was, of course, just before Beatlemania really took off.

As for the E-Type, it was passed between a few owners in the '60s and was parked at some point in 1969.
The still-dusty car arrives at auction at what could be the height of the barn find craze. It will be offered at the Royal Horticultural Society, Lindley Hall, Vincent Square, Westminster, London, on Tuesday, March 8

Aston Martin - Repair and Consignment Sales Redwood City - How The New Aston Martin DB11's Design Compares To Astons Of The Past - Bosch European Redwood City - (650) 368-3000

How The New Aston Martin DB11's Design Compares To Astons Of The Past

There’s a new Aston Martin DB! It goes to 11! Hilarious. We’re currently having an office debate over whether or not the new DB11 is pretty compared to the DB9, which is ridiculous because it is—just like the DB6 was still pretty when it followed the iconic DB5.

There seems to be some disagreement among your Jalopnik staff about the new Aston Martin DB11.

Basically, I think the DB11 is to the DB9 what the DB6 was to the DB5.

Nobody scoffs at a DB6! They just all think it’s a DB5, so it’s more of an “oh.” To make this argument easier to divide friendships and maybe more, I’ve created some easy comparisons below.

The DB5 and DB6:
The DB9 and DB11:

More to my point, a slightly older and maybe facelifted Monica Bellucci is still the beautiful, enigmatic Monica Bellucci. A nip/tucked DB9 with a new V12 heart is still a perfect Aston Martin. We all knew it would be next to impossible for the DB11 to meet expectations following the decades of drool over the DB9, and it’s okay! The DB11 is still a gorgeous design, and will be for another decade of drool.
Just think about the DB6 for a moment; it debuted in 1965, the same year as the fourth James Bond film Thunderball hit theaters and became the biggest movie of all time ever back then—featuring a DB5. Not only that, but the DB5 was already massively popular following the success of the previous Bond film, Goldfinger—a movie that made the DB5 so iconic James Bond still drives it today.

There was no way in hell Aston Martin was going to go a completely new direction with the DB6, just like they haven’t in following the DB9 with the DB11.

For those who don’t like the DB11, just remember that Aston followed the DB6 with the massively different DBS, which is where you can trace the basic lines of the DB7, DB9, and DB11 from. So whatever follows the DB11 may be revolutionary, but it also doesn’t have to be!
Let your Astons be pretty in whatever form! We all win

Audi - Repair and Consignment Sales Redwood City - 2017 Audi TT RS leaked - Bosch European Redwood City - (650) 368-3000

Following the successful launch of the new R8 supercar, the next high-performance model from the Audi Sport division will be a new TT RS.

The car isn’t due for its world debut until later this year but a completely undisguised version has been spotted.

This photo, from Instagram user autogespot_spain, was taken at a gas station in Granada. It reveals the aggressive bumper of the new TT RS, which was always covered in camouflage gear in previous spy shots.
The basic formula of the new TT RS will be much the same as the previous model, which we found to be a very impressive car. Power will come from a turbocharged 2.5-liter inline-5 and will be sent to the ground via a standard quattro all-wheel-drive system. Peak output should eclipse the 360 horsepower of the previous model—we think it will be up around 400 horses.

One key difference between the new car and its predecessor, we’re hearing, will be the lack of availability of a manual transmission. Yes, the new TT RS is thought to be coming exclusively with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission.

A reveal shouldn’t be far considering the car is out and about sans any disguise. Sales in the United States, though, aren’t expected to start until early next year. Note, if you’re the type that just can’t live with a small sports coupe, the TT RS’s mechanical package will be offered up in a new RS 3 sedan that’s also U.S.-bound.
