Porsche's latest 911 GT3 only arrived for the 2022 model year but an updated version has been spotted testing.

The update looks to be a mild one and likely coincides with the planned update for the full 992-generation range. Also out testing are updated versions of the CarreraCarrera CabrioletCarrera GTSTargaTurbo, and Turbo S.

We expect the updated 911 range, referred to internally as the 992.2 generation, to start arriving this year. They should arrive as 2025 models in the U.S. market. The 2024 911 range is already on sale, and includes a new S/T Heritage Design special.

Key among the updates will be a revised dash sporting a fully digital instrument cluster, similar to what's in the Taycan and also the updated 2024 Cayenne.

Tweaks to the front and rear fascias are also likely, judging by the camouflage gear.

It isn't clear what Porsche has planned for the mechanical bits, but a slight uptick in power is normally included with such updates. The GT3 currently comes with a 4.0-liter flat-6 delivering a peak 502 hp and 346 lb-ft of torque. Power goes to the rear wheels via a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic or a 6-speed manual.

Hybrid technology will be available on some models, though likely not the GT3. Porsche CEO Oliver Blume in 2022 said the 911's hybrid system will be similar to the system in the former 919 Hybrid LMP1 race car, and not a plug-in hybrid system like in the 918 Spyder hypercar. That means there won't be a plug, and any electric motor-generator(s) will purely be used to support the internal-combustion engine and recover energy under braking.

Porsche motorsports partner Manthey-Racing has just launched in the U.S. an upgrade package for the current GT3 that reduces the car's track times by way of aerodynamic and chassis mods. It's likely the company will also have a similar kit in development for the updated GT3. The company has also been spotted testing an upgrade package for the more hardcore 911 GT3 RS.

Jaguar - Repair and Service Redwood City - Jaguar's 1,005-hp Vision Gran Turismo concept spawns roadster - Bosch European Redwood City - (650) 368-3000

Jaguar Vision Gran Turismo Roadster concept

The new video game “Gran Turismo 7” for the Sony PlayStation 4 and 5 was released last week and Jaguar has let it be known that included in the game's vehicle lineup is an open-top version of the Vision Gran Turismo concept that Jaguar originally revealed for the “Gran Turismo Sport” title back in 2019.

This brings the number of Jaguar's Vision Gran Turismo concepts to three, as there was also the Vision Gran Turismo SV race car concept shown in 2020. All three concepts are available in the latest instalment of the popular racing sim, each of them sporting a new livery.

The sleek silhouette and single seat format of the new concept is a clear link to Jaguar's iconic C-Type and D-Type race cars, especially thanks to the fin which not only looks cool but also serves as an active aerodynamic feature. It rises at high speeds to increase stability. A swept-back screen is positioned in front of the driver, to provide protection from the wind.

Power comes from an electric powertrain consisting of three motors (one at the front and two at the rear), which are claimed to deliver a combined 1,005 hp and 885 lb-ft of torque. This is enough, Jaguar claims, for 0-60 mph acceleration in under 2.0 seconds and a top speed of over 200 mph...in the virtual world.

The battery is a lithium-ion unit, positioned as low in the structure as possible to help lower the center of gravity. Jaguar also claims a 50:50 weight distribution. No range estimate was given, not that it really matters.

Gran Turismo 7 offers more than 400 cars to choose from, and is the most content-rich instalment in the series to date. This is in addition to the awesome sound and graphics and realistic physics the series is renowned for.
