Audi competes in the German touring car series DTM with a race car
based on its A5 coupe, and in recent years the automaker has celebrated this
participation with special versions of the road car. The latest is the A5 DTM
Selection, which will be built in a limited run of just 50 cars and sold
exclusively in Germany.
The special coupe is the third DTM-inspired model
from the brand with the four rings, with the first one based on the A4 sedan
introduced in 2005 and the second, another A5 coupe-derived model,
introduced in 2013.
You can easily identify the latest special edition by its
DTM, quattro and Audi Sport logos. It also features a Misano red paint
finish, black exterior accents and 20-inch aluminum wheels in a matte titanium
finish. More special logos are featured in the cabin along with sporty bucket
seats, leather and Alcantara trim, and pedals in stainless steel. Red accents
are also featured throughout the cabin, including on the backrests of the
seats.
All A5 DTM Selection coupes come with a
turbocharged 3.0-liter diesel engine developing a peak output of 245 horsepower
and 428 pound-feet of torque. Drive is to all four wheels via a seven-speed
dual-clutch transmission and all-wheel-drive system. Audi quotes a 0-62 mph
time of 5.9 seconds and a governed top speed of 155 mph.
Note, Audi isn’t the only automaker celebrating a presence
in DTM this year. Mercedes-AMG recently revealed a C63
Coupe inspired by the latest C63 DTM race car.
